Thor Heyerdahl was a Norwegian adventurer, ethnographer with a background in zoology, botany and geography. He is probably mostly known for his Kon-Tiki expedition in 1947, in which he sailed across the Pacific Ocean in a hand-built raft, which was designed to demonstrate how humans could have made long sea voyages and create contact between different cultures in ancient times.
This expreimental voayage as well as others have been documented in films and books.
When walking through Oslo I visited the Kon-Tiki Museum, where different items of his travels and cultural exchange can be found next to interviews and other information.
